LOVE Magazine presents LOVE SESSIONS, a new series spotlighting artists who defy convention, and we're kicking off with experimental pianist Precious Renee Tucker, whose raw, improvisational approach has captured a devoted following.
Tucker doesn't play the piano so much as she interrogates it. Introduced to music through church choirs alongside her mother, she's evolved into an artist who dismantles classical boundaries, building her cult-like audience one lo-fi Instagram clip at a time.
"There's nothing that the piano hasn't been able to handle. I can tell the piano everything. I can be completely honest and I feel like I can just fly and sing and just completely expand through the instrument," she tells LOVE.
Director Stephen Isaac-Wilson captures Tucker moments before her debut London show, in conversation with Crystal Mess, alongside the preceding Prologue+ installation.
